Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday mentioned the centre will present ₹5,300 crore help to the drought-prone areas of Karnataka for irrigation functions. Sitharaman was talking in Parliament whereas presenting the union finances for the fiscal yr 2023-24. That is the final full-year finances earlier than the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

The ₹5,300 crore help to the poll-bound southern state was a part of the centre’s second precedence: ‘reaching the final mile’. “The centre will present ₹5,300 crore help to drought-prone central area of Karnataka,” introduced Sitharaman.
