A 13-year-old boy allegedly shot and killed a 60-year-old man on a bus as a result of the person’s leg was blocking the aisle, Denver police stated.
The boy was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of first-degree homicide, the Denver Police Division said in a news release Friday.
Officers responded to a shooting on a Transdev bus close to the intersection of South Federal Boulevard and West Mississippi Avenue at 6:41 p.m. Saturday and located a person, later recognized as Richard Sanchez, with a gunshot wound.
Transdev is a contractor for the Regional Transportation District.
Sanchez was taken to a neighborhood hospital and pronounced useless. The Denver Workplace of the Medical Examiner decided Sanchez’s dying was a murder because of a number of gunshot wounds.
Investigators consider the boy had a “verbal alternate” with Sanchez about Sanchez’s leg blocking the aisle of the bus, after which the boy shot him, in response to Denver police.
A second man injured within the capturing was handled on the scene and didn’t must be taken to a hospital, the division stated in a information launch.
