3 pilgrims walking to Huligemma Devi temple in Karnataka’s Koppal killed after bus hits them | Bangalore News

Three pilgrims died after a non-public sleeper coach bus ploughed into a gaggle of individuals strolling on a padayatra to the Huligemma Devi temple at Huligi in Karnataka’s Koppal district within the early hours of Tuesday, the police mentioned. A number of others sustained accidents and have been admitted to Koppal District Hospital.

The police recognized the deceased as Annapoorna, 40, her son Sharanappa, 19, and Prakash, 25, all residents of Tallihala village of Rona taluk in Gadag district. They have been a part of a gaggle of 15 pilgrims, 4 of whom have been admitted to hospital for therapy.

In response to Ram Arasiddi, Superintendent of Police, Koppal, the incident passed off on NH 50 when a bus travelling from Sindagi to Bengaluru misplaced management and rammed into the pilgrims who have been merely three hours from their vacation spot. They’d already walked for greater than 100 km in three days.

A case has been registered on the Munirabad police Station, and additional investigations are underway.

Pilgrims undertake a padayatra yearly to the temple in Huligi, a city positioned on the financial institution of the Tungabhadra river. The temple attracts pilgrims from North Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. Individuals in padayatras stroll principally at evening and steer clear of the solar through the day.

In one other incident, a 28-year-old pilgrim was killed after a motorbike hit him from behind on Monday evening. The deceased was recognized as Veeresh Hallikeri, a resident of Kukanoor village in Koppal district. He was a part of a nine-member group headed to the temple on a padayatra.

In response to a relative of Veeresh, the pilgrims began their journey from Kukanoor and have been strolling.
“The bus that was heading at a excessive velocity hit them from behind. He didn’t have an opportunity to flee. We referred to as the ambulance eight to 10 occasions, however they didn’t reply. It was the police who shifted the victims of their automobile,” he added.

The Kukanoor police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
