Seven individuals, together with two minors, have been nabbed for the gang rape of the 26-year-old software program engineer in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, police stated on Sunday.
The arrests have been made after interrogating some locals who frequent the secluded spot close to the previous aerodrome in Chaibasa the place the incident occurred, they stated.
The lady, who works at a widely known IT firm, was out together with her boyfriend on a two-wheeler on Thursday night when the incident occurred. A bunch of individuals stopped the couple, beat them up and allegedly raped the lady after taking her to a close-by secluded spot, police stated.
The arrests have been made by the Particular Investigation Staff (SIT) which is fashioned to probe the case, Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar stated.
The lady’s pockets and cellphones have been recovered from these arrested, he stated.
After raping her, the accused left her on the spot and fled. As she was strolling again from the spot, a police van noticed her and he or she narrated the entire incident to them, an officer stated.
They rushed her to the hospital and began an investigation, he added.
