Hearth crews will burn about 500 acres at Rocky Mountain Arsenal Nationwide Wildlife Refuge Monday in a prescribed burn that may produce smoke seen for a number of miles.
The hearth will likely be within the southwest part of the refuge, in response to an alert from the refuge’s X account.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the company that manages the refuge, plans to burn as much as 2,305 acres over 4 weeks; Monday is the start of the challenge.
The burns will likely be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
