500 crore free bus tickets under Shakti scheme; Karnataka CM, Deputy CM celebrate landmark | Bangalore News

The Karnataka authorities Monday celebrated the landmark of issuing 500 crore free bus tickets for girls below the ‘Shakti scheme’.

In an occasion, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, flanked by Deputy Chief Minister D Okay Shivakumar, handed out free tickets to girls passengers aboard a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Company (BMTC) bus.

Chatting with reporters after the occasion, Siddaramaiah mentioned that the Shakti scheme was applied on June 11, 2023. Beneath the scheme, girls from Karnataka had been allowed to journey free of charge after producing identification paperwork in non-premium buses run by the 4 state-run transport firms.

Shakti scheme is among the many 5 ensures being applied by the Congress authorities in Karnataka, other than Gruha Lakshmi – Rs 2,000 month-to-month allowance for girls head of households, Gruha Jyothi – free energy beneath 200 models each month, Anna Bhagya – 10 kg rice per individual of a household in a month, and Yuva Nidhi – unemployment allowance for graduates and diploma holders for six months.

Talking at one other occasion held at Indi, Vijayapura district, Siddaramaiah mentioned that the Rs 83,000 crore spent on assure schemes for the welfare of the folks was a transparent instance of the state authorities being pro-development.

“Is 500 crore (tickets for) girls travelling free, Gruha Lakshmi funds for 1.23 crore households, 1.64 crore households receiving free energy provide beneath 200 models, and serving to crores of Kannadigas below Anna Bhagya and Yuva Nidhi schemes, not growth?” he requested.

He mentioned the BJP and the JD(S) had been making false allegations in opposition to the federal government to derail the welfare schemes applied by it.
