THE CABINET on Wednesday authorised a one-time grant of Rs 22,000 crore to a few state-owned gas corporations to cowl their losses incurred over promoting cooking gasoline LPG under value over the previous two years.
The three corporations – Indian Oil Company (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Company Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Company Ltd (HPCL) – promote home LPG at government-regulated costs to customers. The grant will probably be for the losses they incurred on promoting LPG under value to customers from June 2020 to June 2022.
