FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Former North Dakota Gov. Ed Schafer discovered a lesson about his automotive keys after his automobile was stolen as he hosted a Fargo radio present.
Schafer was visitor internet hosting KFGO’s “Information and Views” program Friday morning when police known as the station to ask if he owned a 2020 GMC Yukon, the station reported.
It seems that the SUV had been stolen out of the station’s parking zone. The thief apparently drove it to a probation workplace and surrendered to authorities, Schafer stated.
The automobile has a push-button begin function and requires a key fob to be within the automobile earlier than it may be operated. However Schafer had left a spare fob inside, enabling the thief to begin it up and drive off.
The previous governor and U.S. agriculture secretary says he’s been warned about being extra cautious.
“My spouse for 31 years has stated, ‘Why don’t you lock your automotive?’” Schafer stated.
