Rishi Sunak Flags Interference Concerns To China Premier After Spy Arrest

London:

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday advised premier Li Qiang that he had “vital considerations” about China’s “interference” in democracy following the arrest of a parliamentary researcher for spying.

Sunak advised Li Qiang on Sunday he had “vital considerations about Chinese language interference within the UK’s parliamentary democracy” at a G20 assembly in India, a Downing Road spokesman advised journalists.

UK police stated Saturday that that they had arrested a person in his twenties for spying, with the Sunday Instances reporting he was a researcher in Britain’s parliament.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service arrested two males, one in his twenties and one other in his thirties, in March on suspicion of offences beneath the Official Secrets and techniques Act.

The Sunday Instances stated the suspect in his twenties had contacts with MPs from the ruling Conservative Celebration whereas working as a parliamentary researcher.

They included Safety Minister Tom Tugendhat and Alicia Kearns, the chairman of the Commons overseas affairs committee.
