The Congress Tuesday demanded the sacking of BJP minister S T Somshekhar in Karnataka after the Supreme Courtroom rejected his plea to remain an FIR in a ₹12-crore bribery case.

Congress normal secretary in-charge for Karnataka Randeep Surjewala requested Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai when he’ll sack the minister of state for co-operation.

Somshekhar was elected from the Yeshvanthapura meeting seat in 2018 on a Congress ticket, however later defected and received the by-election in 2019 as a BJP candidate.

“The Chronology — Bribery of ₹12 Crore alleged in a BDA Contract. Lokayukta Police orders an FIR in opposition to Minister S. T. Somshekhar and others on Sept 18, 2022. SC declines the plea to remain FIR. Mr @BSBommai, when will u sack him?,” Surjewala requested on Twitter, utilizing the hashtag “#40PercentSarkara”.

The Supreme Courtroom Monday refused to contemplate separate pleas by Somashekar, IAS officer G C Prakash and businessman Ok Ravi in opposition to lodging of a corruption case pertaining to a Bangalore Improvement Authority (BDA) development challenge.

The court docket had earlier stayed the probe in opposition to former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa in reference to the FIR.
