By Robert Tann and Ryan Spencer, Summit Day by day
In a scene described as “apocalyptic,” an exodus of motorists prompted chaos as vacationers left Colorado’s mountain cities on the tail finish of a vacation weekend marred by blizzard circumstances.
Mountain cross closures pressured site visitors from greater than a dozen ski resorts to converge in Summit County on Tuesday, Jan. 16, as automobiles battled to get onto Interstate 70.
Longtime resident Scott Smith referred to as it “one of many worst conditions I’ve seen in 42 years up right here.”
The gridlock trapped residents of their properties, interrupted commutes and introduced the group to a standstill in Silverthorne and Dillon. Some employees described not with the ability to present important providers to their clients, whereas those that ventured out on foot reported leaping into snow banks to keep away from vehicles driving on sidewalks.
