Belagavi: A mob of roughly 30 individuals, armed with sharp weapons, attacked the home of a person in Jinaral village in Belagavi on Wednesday in retaliation for his elopement with a married girl from their group, police stated.
The incident comes months after a girl was paraded bare, tied to a pole and assaulted within the district after a pair had eloped .
The couple, who absconded final Tuesday morning, have been each married and had left their youngsters behind. The eloped girl, a mom of two, and the person, recognized as Lagamanna Walikar, confronted the wrath of the girl’s household and kinfolk, who armed with axes, sickles, stones, and sticks attacked the person’s home.
Belagavi SP Bheemashankar Guled stated, “After confirming the elopement, the girl’s household, together with kinfolk and acquaintances, armed with sharp weapons, stormed Lagamanna Walikar’s home. They ransacked the family earlier than demolishing it.”
