Karnataka Congress leader Prathiba Kulai slams police for issuing summons to Surathkal toll gate protesters at midnight

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee co-coordinator and former corporator Prathiba Kulai has hit out on the police for allegedly knocking on the doorways of Surathkal toll gate protesters late at evening for issuing summons.

In a Fb put up, the Congress employee mentioned that 5 police personnel from Surathkal visited her home at round 11.45 pm to serve the summons. “I’m a social employee and never a terrorist,” she wrote, noting that her 74-year-old mother-in-law was in shock because the police knocked on her doorways late within the evening.

“Since I used to be not at house, I’ve not obtained the discover… Are girls protected in Mangaluru? Can anybody come to the home the place girls are residing and knock on its doorways in the course of the evening? What sort of democracy is that this,” she mentioned, including that the native BJP MLA and MP have ‘misplaced their thoughts’ over the toll gate protest.

The summons was in reference to a protest deliberate by the Surathkal Toll Gate Virodhi Samithi on October 18 demanding that the toll gate at Surathkal close to Mangaluru be eliminated. It directed the activists to look earlier than the deputy commissioner of police Monday, October 17.

Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) chief Muneer Katipalla mentioned that the protesters would go forward with the protest regardless of the police demand to look earlier than them and furnish a Rs 2 lakh bond.

In the meantime, Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar maintained that “preventive proceedings have been carried out on some people” within the wake of “some provocative calls and statements made by some main members of the agitation”.
