Pothole menace: Bengaluru woman’s legs crushed under bus after she falls off scooter

A 50-year-old lady suffered grievous accidents after she fell off a scooter and was run over by a bus as her daughter, who was driving the two-wheeler, tried to navigate a pothole alongside Vatal Nagaraj Highway in Bengaluru Monday, the police stated. Umadevi, the sufferer, was driving pillion when the accident occurred.

Her daughter Vanitha S suffered minor accidents, officers added. After Umadevi fell off the scooter, the bus crushed her legs. She additionally suffered accidents on her stomach and head, and is being handled on the ESI Hospital in Rajajinagar.

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officers stated they had been awaiting a police report to determine the precise reason for the accident, at the same time as barricades had been positioned alongside the pothole-ridden stretch. The initiatives division has now pointed fingers on the contractor for not sustaining the highway.

Within the first incident, a retired financial institution official suffered fractures in an accident days after he complained in regards to the poor situation of roads close to his home. Chatting with The Indian Categorical, the sufferer Ok L Vinay stated he had written to the BBMP commissioner on October 6, highlighting the poor situation of the highway from BEL Circle to Peenya Metro station. “I used to be returning house on my scooter from Peenya Metro station on October 12. It was round 8.30-8.45 pm that I fell down whereas making an attempt to keep away from a ditch,” he stated.

The retired NABARD normal supervisor suffered a fracture in his leg and a hairline fracture in his wrist. “The plaster on the leg received’t come off for 3 months after which I must bear physiotherapy,” he stated.

When contacted, S Nagaraju, joint commissioner of Rajarajeshwari Nagar division, stated he had inspected the highway lately and had directed the chief engineer to asphalt the potholes on the stretch.
