Scottie Scheffler live updates: World No 1 arrested by police ahead of 2024 PGA Championship second round

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Three hours after being arrested by Louisville police after an incident driving into Valhalla Golf Membership and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer Friday, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was launched and arrived on the course at 9:12 a.m., lower than an hour earlier than his 10:08 a.m. tee for the second spherical of the PGA Championship.

Visitors on the course was snarled due to a crash that killed a pedestrian. ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, who witnessed Scheffler’s arrest, reported Scheffler tried to drive across the halted site visitors when an officer instructed him to cease.

ESPN reported Scheffler tried to proceed driving one other 10-20 yards. When he did cease, a police officer requested Scheffler to exit his automobile. Darlington reported the police officer opened the automobile door and positioned the 27-year-old in handcuffs and at the back of a police automobile. Video reveals Scheffler in handcuffs being escorted by two officers.

Scheffler was booked at 7:28 a.m. and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree legal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding site visitors indicators from an officer directing site visitors.

Scheffler’s unique tee time was 8:48 a.m. Due to the dying Friday morning, all tee instances have been delayed one hour and 20 minutes, pushing Scheffler’s tee time to 10:08 a.m. ESPN then reported at 8:38 a.m. that Scheffler was launched and heading to the course.

Scheffler, the defending Masters champ and and winner of 4 of his final 5 begins, shot an opening-round 67 to enter Friday tied for twelfth place.
