Ninth BRS legislator defects to Congress | Latest News India

BRS MLA Arekapudi Gandhi from Serilingampalli constituency in Telangana joins Congress, rising Congress power in meeting to 74.

A day after a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) lawmaker from the Rajendranagar meeting constituency in Telangana defected to the Congress, one other BRS MLA – Arekapudi Gandhi from Serilingampalli constituency in Hyderabad – joined the Congress on Saturday.

Gandhi joined the Congress within the presence of PCC president and chief minister A Revanth Reddy at his residence within the morning. Together with the MLA, a number of different corporators in Hyderabad akin to Nagender Yadav, Uppalapati Srikanth, Manjula Raghunath Reddy, and Narne Srinivas additionally joined the Congress.

Gandhi is the ninth BRS MLA to defect to the Congress. The power of the BRS within the 119-member meeting has come down from 39 to 29 on account of these 9 defections and the lack of a seat within the by-elections to the Secunderabad Cantonment seat in Could. In the meantime, the power of the Congress has gone up from 64 to 74.
