Comoros-flagged oil tanker with 16 crew members capsized off Oman, 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans lacking. Vessel stays submerged, inverted.
The 16-strong crew of a Comoros-flagged oil tanker that capsized off Oman are nonetheless lacking, the nation’s maritime safety centre stated on Tuesday, a day after the sinking was reported.
The crew of “Status Falcon” comprised 13 Indian nationals and three Sri Lankans, the Omani centre stated in a submit on the social media platform X.

Individually, the centre advised Reuters that the vessel stays “submerged, inverted”. It didn’t affirm whether or not the vessel had stabilised or whether or not oil or oil merchandise have been leaking into the ocean.
Transport information by LSEG had proven the tanker was heading to the Yemeni port of Aden and capsized off Oman’s main industrial port of Duqm.

The vessel is a 117-metre lengthy oil merchandise tanker inbuilt 2007, the delivery information confirmed. Such small tankers are usually used for brief coastal voyages.
Omani authorities performed a search-and-rescue operation on the scene in coordination with maritime authorities, Oman’s state information company reported late on Monday.
