One critic on X slammed the movie, writing: “GladiatorII is the last word instance of a cash-grab sequel.
“It fails to seize any of the magic that made the unique a masterpiece, with a major drop in high quality throughout the board — from the rating and cinematography to the CGI and writing.
“The pacing is chaotic, the colosseum animal sequences are absurdly over-the-top, and the forged deserved much better than this disjointed mess. This may simply be one of many greatest sequel disasters I’ve seen. 1.5/5 stars – Time to rewatch the unique and cleanse my soul.”
One other viewer applauded Washington’s efficiency, writing he was “working on an entire totally different degree to the remainder of the forged” earlier than suggesting Mescal was miscast: “Love Paul Mescal, however he massively struggled in comparison with Russell Crowe’s main efficiency.”
