Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday mentioned the celebrated Karnataka Ratna award might be introduced posthumously to actor Puneeth Rajkumar on November 1. Final November, days after Rajkumar handed away, the Karnataka authorities had named the actor for the award for his contribution in the direction of the artwork of cinema within the state.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Bommai mentioned, “As already determined, our all time favourite actor Puneeth Rajkumar might be conferred with the Karnataka Ratna award on November 1 on the eve of Karnataka Rajyotsava at 4pm in entrance of Vidhana Soudha. He must be remembered perpetually and the federal government can also be inviting many well-liked individuals to the grand occasion.”
The November announcement had been made at an occasion, titled ‘’Puneetha Namana’, to pay homage to the late actor. It was organised by the Karnataka Movie Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), in affiliation with Sandalwood movie actors’ and technicians’ associations.
In line with information company PTI, the Karnataka Ratna was final awarded to Dr Virendra Heggade for social service in 2009. Puneeth’s late father Rajkumar is among the many first recipients of Karnataka Ratna award in 1992, together with poet Kuvempu.
