Route all broadcast activities through Prasar Bharati: Centre

The Centre has issued an advisory to Union ministries, state governments and Union Territories (UTs) to not enter into any broadcasting actions straight, and go solely by way of Prasar Bharati.

The advisory, issued on October 21, and circulated amongst all secretaries to numerous authorities departments and ministries, state chief secretaries and UT directors, says, “No ministry/division of the Central authorities and state/UT governments and entities associated to them shall enter into broadcasting/distribution of broadcasting actions in future.”

It added that in case any of those entities are already broadcasting the content material, “it shall be finished by way of the general public broadcaster”. And whereby these entities are already distributing the broadcasting content material, they are going to be required to extract themselves from the distribution actions by December 31, 2023, the advisory said.
