Colombia’s left-wing President Gustavo Petro stated Sunday he wouldn’t permit US migrant deportation flights entry to his nation’s airspace.

“America can not deal with Colombian migrants as criminals. I forbid entry to our territory to US planes carrying Colombian migrants,” Petro wrote on X, including they might solely be accepted as soon as Washington had created a protocol guaranteeing the “dignified therapy” of the migrants.

Petro added in a later publish that he had “turned again US navy planes that had been coming with Colombian migrants,” with out giving additional particulars.

AFP couldn’t instantly obtain affirmation from america that Colombian-bound deportation flights had been blocked.

Petro’s remarks come a day after Brazil’s authorities equally expressed outrage on the administration of latest US president Donald Trump over the therapy of dozens of Brazilians deported from america.

The migrants had been handcuffed on the flight in what Brazil known as a “flagrant disregard” for his or her fundamental rights.

Petro stated he would permit in civilian US flights carrying deported migrants so long as they weren’t handled “like criminals.”
