India envoy meets Kenyan President over abduction of 2 Indians

India on Monday described as “very disturbing” the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping of two Indians in Kenya and subsequent ignorance within the case.

A detailed aide of the Kenyan President final week claimed the 2 lacking Indians, Mohammad Zaid Sami Kidwai and Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan, have been killed by the disbanded DCI (Directorate of Felony Investigations) unit, in line with a media report.

It’s learnt that the Kenyan authorities has not stated something formally on the report.

Kidwai and Khan, who have been a part of the Kenya Kwanza digital marketing campaign staff, went lacking alongside taxi driver Nicodemus Mwania from Mombasa Highway in July.

“We now have been in common contact with the Kenyan authorities to find the whereabouts of the 2 lacking Indian nationals, Mohammad Zaid Sami Kidwai and Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan,” MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated on Monday evening.

“Our Excessive Commissioner in Nairobi, Namgya Khampa, in the present day referred to as on President William Samoei Ruto to convey our deep concern and request the expediting of investigations into the matter,” he stated.

Bagchi was responding to media queries on the matter.

“The precise circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and subsequent ignorance could be very disturbing. We anticipate that the case can be investigated completely,” Bagchi stated.

“The case is beneath lively investigation by the Inside Affairs Unit (IAU) of Kenyan Police.
