An FIR (first data report) has been filed in opposition to Kannada actor Chetan Ahimsa for allegedly hurting sentiments. A police grievance was earlier lodged in opposition to the actor within the Udupi district by the right-wing outfit – Hindu Jagaran Vedike – for hurting spiritual sentiments.
The FIR comes after the 39-year-old actor was accused of passing derogatory statements whereas commenting on ‘Bhoota Kola’ custom that’s depicted within the film Kantara, reported information company ANI on Sunday. The ‘Bhoota Kola’ custom – proven within the Kanatara film – is a not a Hindu ritual, he had mentioned.
Kantara actor and director Rishab Shetty earlier remarked that the Bhoota Kola custom – which got here into gentle after the film’s success – is part of Hindu tradition. He mentioned, “The gods in Kantara are all a part of our custom and it’s certainly part of Hindu tradition and rituals. As a result of I’m a Hindu, I’ve perception and respect for my faith. Responding to Rishab Shetty’s remark, Chetan mentioned in a tweet, “Glad our Kannada movie ‘Kantara’ is making waves on a nationwide degree. Director Rishabh Shetty claims Bhoota Kola is ‘Hindu tradition’. False. Our Pambada/Nalike/Parawa’s Bahujan traditions predate Vedic-Brahminical Hinduism. We ask that Moolnivasi cultures be proven w/fact on & off display. (sic).
After his tweet acquired a backlash from the right-wing teams, Chetan carried out a press meet in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The actor then mentioned, “It’s fallacious to say that ‘Bhoota Kola’ is a part of the Hindu faith. Adivasis apply the ritual and there’s no ‘Brahminism’ in Bhoota Kola. Don’t say Hindu within the film. It’s the tradition of the Adivasis. It’s unfair to place Adivasi tradition within the column of Hindu faith.”
