New Delhi:

A White Home video showcasing the deportation of immigrants has triggered a wave of criticism throughout social media. The video, posted on the official White Home X (previously Twitter) account, featured detained migrants being processed for deportation – set to the soundtrack of the UK pop group Bananarama’s 1983 hit ‘Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)’.

The footage reveals people lined up and escorted, with the caption taking part in off the music’s  lyrics: “Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye.”

The tone of the submit – seemingly celebratory – has prompted a barrage of condemnation on-line, with many accusing President Donald Trump’s administration of dehumanising susceptible individuals.

“That is ghoulish behaviour. Sociopathic. Disgrace on you,” wrote one consumer. One other added, “It will be nice if you happen to guys stopped with the dehumanising posts! It is disgusting.”

“This is not coverage. That is state-sponsored dehumanisation – with a soundtrack. Weaponising struggling. Mocking lives torn aside. Celebrating cruelty prefer it’s a recreation present. That is how fascism talks when it thinks nobody can cease it. We see you. And we are going to cease you,” wrote one other.

In response to an official assertion from the White Home, in March, the US Border Patrol encountered simply 7,181 unlawful immigrants on the southern border in comparison with the identical month underneath former President Joe Biden – a 95 per cent lower from 2024 (137,473), a 96 per cent lower from 2023 (163,672), and a 97 per cent lower from 2022 (211,181).

This isn’t the primary time that the White Home has launched a video with pop songs taking part in within the background. Final month, an analogous deportation video that includes the band Semisonic’s ‘Closing Time’ sparked controversy. The band, which was nominated for a Grammy for the 1998 music, stated the White Home had used the music with out permission and had fully misunderstood its which means.
