The Karnataka Congress unit on Thursday introduced a large protest towards the Centre on the problem of inflation and the ‘double requirements’ of the state BJP over the rise in costs.

The announcement got here after the state BJP launched a 16-day protest towards the Karnataka authorities on April 7, and its ally Janata Dal (Secular) introduced a protest on April 12 – each towards the state authorities for growing costs of diesel, milk, and different necessities. The Congress protest shall be held at Freedom Park on April 17.

Addressing a information convention, Karnataka Congress president and Deputy Chief Minister D Okay Shivakumar took a dig on the Janaakrosha Yatra organised by the BJP, asking whether or not leaders from the get together have been solely conscious of the costs hiked by the state.

When the BJP began its Yatra within the state, the Centre hiked the costs of petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre, whereas the costs of LPG cylinders went up by Rs 50. “(The Centre) despatched a present for the BJP’s Yatra within the state… The BJP ought to put up a Board saying that the protest was towards the Central authorities,” he mentioned.
