Raids at residence of two-time Chhattisgarh MLA in ‘corruption’ case | India News

Chhattisgarh’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Financial Offences Wing (EOW) carried out raids at 12 locations in Sukma district — together with the residence of former two-time MLA and tribal chief Manish Kunjam — in reference to the alleged misappropriation of Rs 7 crore.

The case pertains to corruption allegations pertaining to funds that had been meant to be distributed as bonus to tendu leaves collectors for 2021 and 2022.

In keeping with officers, a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ashok Kumar Patel in Sukma district was suspended following a grievance that he and another forest officers had “colluded” in not distributing round Rs 7 crore meant as incentives for amassing Tendu leaves.

Kunjam has been accused of getting obtained kickbacks, sources mentioned.

An FIR was registered beneath IPC sections 409 (felony breach of belief by public servant) and 120 B (felony conspiracy) on April 8, police mentioned, including that Rs 26.63 lakh in money was seized from one of many suspects.

When contacted, Kunjam claimed he was being “focused” and that it was he who had made the unique grievance within the case.

“They took two of my telephones and my diary. I’m the only real complainant. Even after the DFO was suspended on March 10, we protested once more asking the (district) collector to take motion towards him and provides the cash to beneficiaries,” he claimed

Previously a frontrunner of the Communist Get together of India and a two-time MLA, Kunjam stop the get together in February final 12 months — months after he was denied a ticket to contest the meeting polls from Sukma. He was beforehand president of the All India Adivasi Mahasabha, the tribal wing of the CPI.
