Bengaluru groping case: accused arrested from Kerala after 11 days | Bangalore News

The Bengaluru police arrested a person from Kerala Sunday for allegedly groping a lady within the Suddaguntepalya space of the Karnataka capital earlier this month in an incident which went viral on social media, sparking outrage.

In accordance with the police, the arrested man has been recognized as Santosh, a resident of Tilak Nagar in Bengaluru. They mentioned he labored as a driver at a high-end automobile showroom in Whitefield.

On April 3, at round 1.52 am, Santosh allegedly groped a lady when she was strolling on a road beneath the Suddaguntepalya police limits. Though the girl didn’t file a criticism, the police registered a First Info Report (FIR) primarily based on a criticism lodged by a resident beneath Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 74 (molestation), 75 (sexual harassment), and 78 (stalking).

The incident sparked a political controversy after Karnataka Dwelling Minister G Parameshwara referred to as it an “remoted incident”, and mentioned “such incidents happen as soon as shortly in such a giant metropolis” like Bengaluru. The minister later mentioned his remarks had been misinterpreted by the media.
