Madhya Pradesh MLA’s son, accused of assaulting priest, surrenders before police | India News

Rudraksh Shukla, the son of Bharatiya Janata Get together MLA Golu Shukla, surrendered to the Madhya Pradesh Police Tuesday evening in reference to the assault of a priest at a temple in Dewas final week. He was granted bail shortly after after which visited the temple to apologise, touching the priest’s ft in a gesture of regret.

Rudraksh and at the very least eight others have been accused of verbally and bodily assaulting the priest of Choti Chamunda Tekri temple. They allegedly tried to enter the temple within the early hours of 12 April, after it had been closed for the evening. The police formally booked them for assault and prison intimidation on Monday, two days after an FIR was registered.

This had come after senior leaders of the BJP had grown indignant over the incident and had additionally warned the father-son duo over the previous few days. State BJP president V.D. Sharma had additionally publicly spoken in regards to the incident when Tuesday he stated: “All accountable shall be held, no matter who they’re”.

The FIR was filed primarily based on a criticism by the priest, Updesh Nath, who was attacked in the course of the incident. Updesh said that the altercation occurred between Friday evening and early Saturday morning, shortly after his father, Mahesh Nath, closed the temple and left for the evening, having coated the idol as typical.

“Updesh was sitting on the temple gate round 12.40 am when roughly 40 people arrived, demanding that the temple be reopened. He recognized one among them as Jitendra Raghuvanshi, recognized to be an affiliate of Rudraksh,” stated a senior police officer.

CCTV footage believed to be taken from the temple’s exterior reveals a number of automobiles with pink beacons pulling up, and dozens of males rising from them.
