Alleged voting by Pakistani national: EC directs J&K Chief Electoral Officer to take action | India News

Hours after a viral video confirmed a Pakistani nationwide claiming that he had voted in India, the Election Fee on Wednesday requested the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer to take applicable motion within the matter, The Indian Specific has learnt.

On Wednesday morning, information company ANI posted a clip of a person, recognized as Osama, who was returning to Pakistan after India cancelled visas given to Pakistani nationals within the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist assault on April 22. The person could be heard saying within the video that he has lived in India since 2008, and has an Aadhaar card, voter ID, and has even voted in India, although he has a Pakistani passport.

In response to senior sources within the EC, the ballot panel has requested for a show-cause discover to be issued to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) involved. Sources mentioned that since being a citizen of India is a requirement for getting a voter ID, if discovered true, a First Data Report (FIR) might be filed within the matter. As per Kind 6, which is the EC’s type for registration of latest voters, the applicant has to declare that she or he is a citizen of India. Giving a false declaration attracts actions, together with an FIR.

After the terrorist assault on vacationers in Pahalgam, wherein 26 folks died, the Union authorities moved to cancel a number of classes of visas issued to Pakistani nationals.
