The counting of votes for Assam’s panchayat polls started Sunday morning, with the Bharatiya Janata Get together (BJP) recording some early wins as of Sunday night.

The entire seats embrace 21,920 Gram Panchayat members with 10,883 seats reserved for ladies; 2,192 Anchalik Panchayat members with 1,124 reserved for ladies; and 397 Zilla Parishad members with 199 seats reserved for ladies.

Voting had taken place in two phases on Could 2 and Could 7 in 27 districts for the primary time after the delimitation of constituencies. The counting of votes for each phases is being held concurrently since 8 am.

Festive offer

In view of stray violence and disruptions throughout voting, the administration has organized sufficient safety measures in all of the counting centres to keep away from any such conditions, an official was quoted as saying by PTI.

“There are millions of seats within the election. We’ll attempt to full the counting as quickly as doable. Nevertheless, we imagine that it’s more likely to stretch until tomorrow,” one other official instructed PTI.
