A teenage woman has been detained in Odisha’s Gajapati for allegedly murdering her adoptive mom with the assistance of her two male pals, police mentioned Friday.

In line with the police, the sufferer, 54-year-old Bhubaneswar native Rajalaxmi Kar, had discovered the woman deserted on a street when she was three and adopted her. The duo had moved to a rented lodging in Gajapati district to be nearer to the kid’s college.

On the night of April 29, the minor woman allegedly administered sleeping tablets to Rajalaxmi, Gajapati Superintendent of Police Jatindra Kumar Panda mentioned. Then, collectively along with her two pals, she allegedly smothered the lady with a pillow.

It was the lady’s brother, Siba Prasad Mishra, who approached the police on April 14 after he allegedly discovered the minor’s secret cell phone and checked her social media chats. There, he allegedly discovered that the woman mentioned plans to kill her mom.

Primarily based on the grievance, the police registered an FIR for homicide and arrested the woman and her two pals. In line with the police, the 2 males stole 70 grams of gold and Rs 60,000 in money from the lady’s home after the incident.

The woman was allegedly upset after her mom objected to her friendship with the 2 males. “They persuaded the woman to commit the crime,” Panda mentioned.

The 2 males are presently in police custody and the minor woman has been despatched to a correctional dwelling.
