Karnataka requests electric buses under PM E-Drive scheme | Bangalore News

The Karnataka authorities on Friday submitted a proper proposal to the Ministry of Heavy Industries, looking for electrical buses beneath the PM E-Drive initiative to reinforce city public transport in main cities.

Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy offered the request, emphasising the necessity for improved transit methods.

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Metal H D Kumaraswamy, in discussions with ministry officers, assured Karnataka of full assist. He confirmed that electrical bus allocations are in progress and will probably be offered to Karnataka in a phased method. “Karnataka will obtain buses beneath the PM E-Drive scheme,” Kumaraswamy stated.

Launched in April 2024 with a Rs 10,900 crore funds, the PM E-Drive initiative goals to deploy 14,028 electrical buses throughout 9 main Indian cities by March 2026.
