IAS officer ‘caught taking Rs 10 lakh bribe’ from businessman: Odisha Vigilance | India News

The Odisha Vigilance Directorate stated its officers on Sunday night caught an IAS officer allegedly within the act of accepting a Rs 10-lakh bribe from a businessman in Kalahandi district.

Dhiman Chakma, a 2021-batch officer presently posted as a sub-collector at Dharamgarh in Kalahandi district, has been booked beneath the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In accordance with Vigilance officers, Chakma allegedly accepted Rs 10 lakh as an instalment of a complete demand of Rs 20 lakh from the businessman, who claimed he was threatened with motion if he didn’t pay. The businessman subsequently lodged a criticism with the Vigilance Directorate.

“The accused IAS officer referred to as the complainant to his official authorities residence at Dharamgarh, obtained the bribe quantity, verified the observe bundles of various denominations with each his fingers and stored the identical inside his residence workplace desk drawer. Each hand wash and desk drawer wash gave optimistic chemical response,” stated a Vigilance official.

Chakma couldn’t be reached for remark amid continued searches at his premises by Vigilance officers.
