CAG to finalise list of CA firms for audit of autonomous bodies | India News

The Comptroller and Auditor Common (CAG) will finalise in two weeks empanelment of Chartered Accountancy (CA) companies for audit of autonomous, native and different our bodies from July 2025 to March 2027, senior officers of the constitutional physique stated Thursday.

On Could 27, the CAG had invited an expression of willingness from CA companies to audit monetary statements of autonomous our bodies. The deadline for CA companies to submit their expression of willingness was June 5 and the officers stated the  empanelled companies might be finalised quickly.

The CAG had invited CA companies to be a part of the auditors group in view of the establishment’s restricted technical assets, particularly with reference to the huge audit panorama on this space.

Thirty cities have been recognized for the audits initially, the CAG officers stated.

“… These companies might be registered, empanelled and due confidentiality might be maintained,” stated Deputy CAG (business) Anand Mohan Bajaj.

In the meantime, A Venkatesan, CPI(M) MP from Madurai, objected to empanelling CA companies saying that it’ll dilute the CAG’s independence and is in opposition to its constitutional mandate. In response, Deputy CAG Bajaj stated, “The audit might be carried out by us, so it isn’t being outsourced. We are going to clarify the problem to the honourable MP.”

The CAG stated that CA companies would work as a part of a group led by an officer accountable for Indian Audit and Accounts Division, and the CAG would nonetheless be chargeable for the work and its output.
