Chennai-bound Indigo flight lands in Bengaluru after pilot announces ‘fuel mayday’ | Bangalore News

Indigo flight 6E-6764 working from Guwahati to Chennai on Thursday made an emergency touchdown at Kempegowda Worldwide Airport in Bengaluru after the pilot introduced a ‘gas mayday’. The plane (Airbus A321) departed Guwahati at 4.40 pm and tried to land in Chennai round 7.45 pm however needed to abort resulting from inadequate gas, prompting the pilot to difficulty a ‘gas mayday’ alert. It landed in Bengaluru at 8.15 pm, with all 168 passengers evacuated safely. The incident triggered recent aviation security considerations, following carefully on the heels of the UK-bound Air India flight crash close to Ahmedabad airport final week.

Though Indigo has not issued any official assertion, sources within the airline firm advised The Indian Categorical that the flight encountered a gas emergency after being denied touchdown at Chennai airport resulting from air site visitors congestion. “For the reason that flight didn’t obtain clearance to land at Chennai resulting from congestion and was flying at low gas, the pilot introduced a gas mayday as per the protocol, and the plane was diverted to Bengaluru. The plane was refuelled and took off with a brand new crew and 168 passengers to Chennai at round 10.30 pm. “For the reason that Flight Responsibility Time Limitations (FDTL) of the crew lapsed, a brand new crew took over the flight as per protocol and took off to Chennai at round 10.24 pm,” mentioned the supply.

The incident comes a day after one other Indigo flight, headed to Madurai, flew again to Chennai after a mid-air snag. After flying for about half an hour, the pilot detected the problem and sought permission to fly again to Chennai. The aircraft carrying about 68 passengers landed safely.
