Kashmiri man accused of stealing paraded shirtless with hands tied on Jammu police vehicle | India News

Accused of stealing, a 24-year-old man from Kashmir was apprehended by police from the premises of a authorities hospital in Jammu on Tuesday morning, and allegedly paraded shirtless on the bonnet of a police automobile. He was made to put on a garland of slippers and had his palms tied behind his again.

After a video of the incident went viral, Jammu SSP Joginder Singh has ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter.

The person was recognized as Ishraq Ahmed of Parmpillan in Uri tehsil of Baramulla district. Police mentioned he was dwelling in Jammu’s Qasim Nagar space.

The SSP’s inquiry order mentioned the incident seen within the viral video constituted acts on the a part of police personnel that had been “unprofessional, unbecoming of members of a disciplined organisation, and requires stern departmental motion…” The SSP entrusted the inquiry to the Sub Divisional Police Officer of Metropolis (North), and requested him to submit his report inside per week.

Station Home Officer of Bakshi Nagar, Inspector Azad Manhas, denied any police position in parading the person.

The inspector mentioned the person was caught by members of the general public after he tried to rob a affected person’s attendant exterior the hospital. He mentioned that when police reached the spot, a big crowd had been already beating him. It was allegedly his third such theft since final week, the SHO mentioned.

“We rescued him from the mob and put him contained in the gypsy to deliver him to the police station. Nonetheless, the offended mob outnumbered the cops and dragged the accused out of the automobile,” he mentioned, including that the group made him sit, shirtless, on the bonnet of the automobile, and put a garland of slippers round his neck and tied his palms with a rope behind his again.

The inspector claimed that the police personnel waited for the group to settle down, after which they put the person contained in the automobile and introduced him to the station.
