Following the event, Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre ordered the principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF) to conduct a probe and submit a report back to him inside three days. Preliminary investigation instructed that the large cats might have consumed meat laced with poisonous substances.
Minister Khandre acknowledged, “The reason for the unnatural deaths of tigers should be deeply examined and investigated. If negligence by forest workers is confirmed, disciplinary motion might be taken towards them. If this incident is confirmed to be the results of poisoning, I’ve instructed the officers involved to register prison instances towards these concerned.”
The incident is especially distressing for Karnataka, which ranks second in India when it comes to tiger inhabitants. The lack of 4 tigers in a single day offers a blow to the state’s wildlife safety achievements.
