4 tribal youths ‘beaten with belts’ at police station, probe ordered against 4 cops | India News

4 policemen in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district are underneath investigation following allegations of custodial torture and police brutality.

The households of 4 tribal youths from the Naugaon space have accused the police of illegally detaining the younger males, thrashing them, and treating them in an “inhumane” manner.

The victims, who earn their dwelling by making and promoting brooms, had been reportedly picked up by Naugaon police on July 15. In accordance with their households, the youths had been detained on suspicion of theft whereas they had been on their method to an area housewarming ceremony.

The incident occurred close to Naugaon’s Disillery Street, the place they’d stopped briefly to alleviate themselves. They had been reportedly driving on two bikes. One of many victims, in his criticism, stated the police stripped them contained in the station and beat them with belts and straps. “They handled us like animals. We stored begging them to cease, however they stored beating us,” he informed native reporters.

Outraged by the alleged custodial torture, the victims’ households staged a protest outdoors the workplace of Chhatarpur’s Superintendent of Police on Monday. They had been joined by members of the Bhim Military, who marched from the native bus stand and staged a four-hour sit-in, demanding suspension of the Naugaon Station Home Officer and the opposite police personnel concerned.

Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Amit Meshram stated, “A criticism has been submitted by the kinfolk of the suspects. I’ve been directed to analyze and have assured all events that the report shall be submitted by tomorrow at midday. Strict and neutral motion shall be taken if anybody is discovered responsible.”
