The NIA, which took over the investigation from the Karnataka Police, has stated in its chargesheet filed within the case that the blast was a part of an ISIS terrorist plot.

Based on ED, Rs 2,86,008 was deposited by completely different cryptocurrency sellers within the mule accounts and Rs 41,680 was collected in money from point-of-sale brokers as a part of the phobia plot. The quantities have been used for purchasing gadgets on-line to assemble the improvised explosive machine (IED), hiring hideouts in Mysuru metropolis and different locations, and in addition for conducting reconnaissance at varied locations in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. The bomb was alleged to be planted on the Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple, the company stated in its assertion.

Additionally, the police had seized Rs 39,228 from Mohammed Shariq at Father Muller Hospital in Mangaluru.

On November 19, 2022, Mohammed Shariq, 24, suffered 40 per cent burns after an IED he was carrying in a bag stored on his lap whereas travelling in an autorickshaw unintentionally went off in Mangaluru. It exploded because the bomb timer was set for 09 seconds, as an alternative of 90 minutes, in response to the NIA. The police arrested Shariq after the blast.

One other accused within the case, Maaz Munir, allegedly supplied particulars of the mule accounts to Shariq to obtain funds despatched by the net handler, “Colonel”.
