Rapido’s food delivery service Ownly now available on Play Store and App Store | Technology News

Rapido, one of many main ride-sharing platforms in India, is now venturing into meals supply companies known as Ownly. They’re at the moment testing a beta model of the app in Bengaluru. That is the primary time Rapido is getting into an area dominated by Swiggy and Zomato.

In line with a report in JHB, the corporate has began testing its meals supply service in Byrasandra, Tavarekere, and Madiwala (BTM) Format, Hosur Sarjapura Highway (HSR) Format, and Koramangala. This was confirmed by Rapido co-founder and CEO Aravind Sanka to the publication.

Ownly is a part of Ctrlx Applied sciences, a lately established subsidiary of Rapido. The app has been launched on Google Play and the App Retailer and reportedly presents meals from native eating places at about 15 per cent lower than different well-liked apps.

Reportedly, the model is claiming to be a commission-free various, which means as an alternative of charging eateries a share of order worth, it’s adopting a flat-fee-per-order mannequin. That is the way it is ready to provide meals costs as much as 15 per cent decrease than others. Ownly claims to have ‘no hidden fees’ and delivers restaurant meals at offline costs via the app. 

To forestall potential conflicts of curiosity with Swiggy, which presently owns a 12 per cent minority share in Rapido, Swiggy lately knowledgeable shareholders in a letter that it’ll assessment its funding in Rapido, citing a potential battle of curiosity “that will come up sooner or later”.

Rapido reportedly has a fleet of about 10 million autos, together with round 6 million two-wheelers in India.
