Principal of Bengaluru residential school granted anticipatory bail in Pocso case over ragging allegations | Bangalore News

A district court docket granted anticipatory bail to the principal of a prestigious residential college in South Bengaluru Friday in a case registered final week over allegations of ragging and sexual harassment raised by a Class 10 pupil towards his seniors.

Eight folks, together with the principal and a hostel warden, had been named within the First Info Report (FIR) lodged by the police underneath sections of the Safety of Youngsters from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Final week, the police arrested the hostel warden.

In the meantime, the 61-year-old principal of the worldwide academy, who was named because the eighth accused, approached the court docket for anticipatory bail. The district court docket for Pocso circumstances granted interim bail to her on Friday “contemplating the distinctive info and circumstances concerned within the case”.

The coed, who studied in a boarding college at a hill station in Maharashtra, had joined the South Bengaluru college this 12 months, following which he reported incidents of alleged ragging that focused him for over 4 days. The sufferer was allegedly compelled to bop with out garments and subjected to sexual harassment. An investigation is underway.

His classmate reported the matter to the coed’s mother and father and a police criticism was filed. Based on the criticism, the hostel warden didn’t act on the coed’s complaints. “The coed is in shock. It is going to take time to get better,” his relative stated.

The principal argued that the one allegation towards her was that she did not take motion regardless of being knowledgeable concerning the alleged ragging of a Class 10 pupil on the residential college by Class 12 college students. The principal added that she would cooperate with the investigation.
