The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three officers of the Navy Engineer Companies (MES) in Bhopal for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1.10 lakh.
“The accused, recognized as Arun Singh, junior administrative assistant, and two assistant garrison engineers, J John Kennedy, and R S Yadav, had been arrested for taking the bribe from a contractor,” a CBI spokesperson stated.
The CBI spokesperson stated the officers had demanded the bribe from a contractor for whom the Garrison Engineer (GE) had allegedly raised a restoration of Rs 7.93 lakh regardless of his tender work being so as.
“When the complainant approached the GE concerning stated restoration, he was directed to debate the matter with Kennedy and Yadav. They demanded undue benefit of round Rs 1,15,000 (3 p.c of the tender worth),” the spokesperson stated.
“The complainant was additional directed that in case of non-payment of undue benefit or bribe, restoration can be comprised of him. We laid a entice and caught the accused whereas demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.10 lakh from the complainant,” the spokesperson stated.
