Karnataka caste survey hit by teachers’ protest against enumeration duty; BJP petitions commission | Bangalore News

The Socio-Financial and Academic Survey, carried out by the Karnataka State Fee for Backward Lessons, hit a roadblock on Tuesday as a bit of academics protested at Belagavi, urging to be relieved from enumeration obligation.

Through the protest, the academics maintained that although they weren’t towards the survey, they objected to the inclusion of academics with bodily disabilities, well being issues, and seniors unfit to hold out the door-to-door survey. In a petition submitted to the deputy commissioner of the district, they stated that although the district administration had earlier agreed to drop them from the train, many academics dealing with such issues had been included within the checklist launched by the block schooling officer.

The demonstration got here even because the survey, which began on Monday, was affected by technical glitches, delaying enumeration in a full-fledged method. In a publish on X, JD(S) chief Nikhil Kumaraswamy alleged that the information assortment utility used for the survey had crashed. “The Karnataka Congress authorities is spending ₹420 crore of taxpayers’ cash on a 15-day socio-economic survey. However by Day 2, the survey app has already crashed,” he wrote on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, sources within the fee rejected the allegations, saying that although there have been some glitches through the first day of the enumeration train, they had been addressed. “The train is being carried out easily,” an official of the fee informed indianexpress.com.

Through the day, a BJP delegation led by Chief of the Opposition within the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and MLA and former minister V Sunil Kumar submitted a petition to the fee’s chairman, Madhusudhan R Naik. They alleged that 15 “new Christian SC castes” had been included within the checklist of castes being surveyed by the fee, and urged it to masks their names within the drop-down checklist used within the survey app. Whereas the fee has masked 33 caste names resembling Madiga Christian and Kuruba Christian previous to the beginning of the train, it has not finished so for caste names with ‘Christian’ in them compiled beneath the SC checklist, the BJP delegation alleged.

The fee, nonetheless, said in a launch that not one of the “Christian castes” talked about within the Scheduled Caste checklist had been included within the checklist ready by it. Not one of the castes talked about are included within the app getting used for the survey, it added.
