Truck allegedly carrying 5 tonnes of beef torched near Belagavi; police register 2 FIRs | Bangalore News

A truck allegedly transporting round 5 tonnes of beef was set ablaze close to Kudachi, round 100 km from Belagavi in Karnataka, late on Monday night. The police have registered two circumstances in reference to the incident.

In accordance with the police, locals intercepted the truck heading to Kalaburagi on suspicion of carrying beef. The automobile was waylaid close to the Sri Siddeshwara Temple, positioned on Ugar Street at Ainapur in Athani taluk of the district. Whereas checking the contents of the automobile, the locals allegedly discovered meat and the truck was set on hearth.

By the point the police arrived on the scene, the truck was gutted, the police stated. Firefighters from Ugar Sugar Manufacturing facility and the hearth brigade from Athani taluk had been rushed to the spot to extinguish the blaze.

Bhimashankar Guled, Superintendent of Police, Belagavi, stated the primary case in reference to the incident was registered towards three folks concerned in transporting the meat. “This was registered underneath provisions of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The principle accused within the case was arrested at Kalaburgi,” Guled stated.

The second case, pertaining to the torching of the truck, was registered underneath sections associated to arson, theft, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. 5 folks have been detained on this case, the police stated.
A police investigation is underway.
