Former IB officer killed in road accident inside Mysore University campus, police suspect murder

The Investigation into the loss of life of an 82-year-old former Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer in Karnataka has taken a twist because the police, who initially believed it was a street accident, now suspect it to be a homicide.

RN Kulkarni, resident of Mysuru, was strolling on the Manasa Gangothri campus of Mysore College Friday when an unidentified automobile hit him from behind resulting in his loss of life. The VV Puram site visitors police booked a case of a hit-and-run street accident as a consequence of negligence and rash driving.

However the police, who went by the CCTV footage, suspected the accident to be a deliberate act. Metropolis police commissioner Dr Chandragupta and deputy commissioner of police (legislation and order) Pradeep Gunti, who visited the crime spot Saturday, stated a homicide case is being registered and investigated by the Jayalakshmipuram police.

A police official stated, “Kulkarni was not strolling on the general public street however contained in the college campus. Not many automobiles take this street and the CCTV footage additionally exhibits that it was a deliberate act. There was no registration quantity on the quantity plate and we now discovered that the automobile sped away in direction of Sri Jayachamarajendra School of Engineering (after hitting Kulkarni).”

RN Kulkarni, born in 1940 in Savanur of Haveri district, was a graduate of Karnataka College in Dharwad. He began working with the IB in 1963 and served in a number of positions for the following three a long time. He spent his retirement life in Mysuru and authored many books akin to ‘Sides of Terrorism in India’ and ‘Sin of Nationwide Conscience’.

Kulkarni lived along with his spouse Vatsala whereas his son and daughter are overseas.
