SC unhappy with 8-month pendency of Anil Deshmukh’s bail plea, cites Article 21

The Supreme Courtroom on Monday requested the Bombay excessive courtroom to determine expeditiously the bail petition of former Maharashtra dwelling minister and NCP chief Anil Deshmukh in a cash laundering case. Whereas expressing it is displeasure over the 8-month pendency of Deshmukh’s petition, the apex courtroom directed the HC to take a name by the tip of this week.

It additional clarified that it has not expressed any opinion on the deserves of the case. Deshmukh was arrested in reference to a cash laundering case.

A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Hima Kohli stated Deshmukh’s bail plea is pending within the excessive courtroom since March 21.

Justice NJ Jamadar of the excessive courtroom is listening to the bail plea of the previous minister who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in November 2021 and is presently in judicial custody.
