EC announces bypoll in UP’s Khatauli Assembly seat on Dec 5, counting on Dec 8

The Election Fee on Tuesday introduced that the bypoll for the Khatauli Meeting constituency in Uttar Pradesh can be held on December 5. The counting of votes can be held on December 8, when the outcomes of the Meeting elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat will even be out.

The Khatauli seat fell vacant on Monday when BJP MLA Vikram Singh Saini was disqualified after his latest conviction in a case associated to the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots. A court docket within the state’s Muzaffarnagar sentenced Saini and 10 others to 2 years imprisonment within the case final month. The accused had been convicted below costs together with rioting, rioting armed with lethal weapons and act endangering life or private security of others.

With the announcement of this bypoll schedule, an EC official mentioned all vacancies in 2022 had been lined. The ballot panel had on November 5 introduced bypolls in 5 Meeting seats – one every in Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Bihar and Chhattisgarh – and within the Parliamentary constituency of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh. The Mainpuri seat fell vacant following the loss of life of Samajwadi Get together chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on October 10.
