Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s bid to rebrand Presidents Day — in honor of President Donald Trump — rapidly backfired.
The Alabama Republican on Monday shared on X a picture of Mount Rushmore with Trump’s face digitally added.
He wrote: “As we replicate on our nation’s best presidents, it’s exhausting to consider a President who has been extra influential in trendy historical past than President Trump. Petition to rename as we speak as ‘President Donald J. Trump Day’?”
The submit drew swift ridicule, with critics calling Tuberville — who’s working for governor of Alabama and shared it through his marketing campaign feed — embarrassing and worse.
Trump and his allies have often mused about having his likeness added to the monument in South Dakota’s Black Hills, regardless of specialists’ issues it could not help the addition of one other sculpture.
