The duo’s affair continued after the film was launched, and Minnelli was insistent that her lover direct her subsequent Broadway venture, The Act, regardless of restricted stay theater expertise.
The Tony Award winner noticed a direct “crimson flag” when the film director demanded his personal theater dressing room, and she or he knew he would not final on the job.
“It rattling close to killed me and broke my coronary heart,” she wrote about having to fireplace Scorsese.
“As soon as the fireplace was lit, it burnt us all,” Minnelli stated of her illicit romance with the auteur. “[However,] I’m not right here to guage or apologize, as a result of it was deeply compelling on the time.”
Whereas the poisonous romance ultimately ended, dangerous emotions lingered for many years.
“Years later, I noticed Marty on the Oscars ceremony in 2014 and walked as much as say whats up. Sadly, he turned away from me. Very unhappy,” Minnelli shared.
