KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) — A former New York state trooper accused of ramming his automobile into an SUV throughout a high-speed chase resulting in the loss of life of an 11-year-old lady was convicted of manslaughter Friday at his second trial.
Prosecutors say Christopher Baldner, 47, rammed the SUV twice on the New York State Thruway, inflicting it to lose management and flip over. Eleven-year-old Monica Items, who was within the SUV, was killed within the December 2020 crash. Baldner’s attorneys stated the accident occurred after the SUV minimize the trooper off as he pulled alongside throughout the pursuit.
